To the machines, free humans are nothing more than pests infesting the walls and floorboards of their world. The sentinels were created to clean out that infestation. They are hunter-killers of the highest order, equipped with highly advanced weapons, armor, and tracking systems.

They patrol the infrastructure of the old human cities looking for nomads, hovercrafts, and even Zion itself. Agents often send them out to locate and destroy Resistance ships hacking into the Matrix.

Their exoskeletons are impervious to firearms, temperature, corrosives, and even energy weapons. The only thing that can be used successfully against them is a full Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP), which is why all Resistance vehicles are equipped with them. Unfortunately, this weapon acts indiscriminately, shutting down any and all active electronic devices within range.

The Sentinels' weapons are equally formidable. They are armed with plasma torches, energy weapons, and ten clawed tentacles strong enough to tear open a ship's hull. They can track by sound, heat, electromagnetic activity, radar, sonar, and even seismic vibration. They are extremely difficult to evade once they have the "scent" of their prey. Most Resistance vessels just power down, ready the EMP, and hope to be mistaken for refuse.

(Give sentinels Major ratings in tracking, surveillance, and ship-to-ship combat. Don't worry about giving them personal combat skills; no human would last more than a few seconds against one.)
