Matrix Home Nameless RPG

There are two and a half PC types in The Matrix RPG, each defined by the way they interact with the Matrix. You should be able to use whatever character classes, skills, and so forth that your game system provides.

Free Minds are humans who have been disconnected from the Matrix. They retain the cybernetic implants that allow them to enter the Matrix and most pursue mastery of Zen (see below). They are the footsoldiers of the Resistance.

The Free Born are humans who were never connected to the Matrix. Most live in Zion, the last human city, but many serve in the Resistance. They do not have neural implants, and so cannot enter the Matrix. Because The Matrix RPG doesn't focus on the Real World, these characters are offer primarily as NPCs and GM characters (ie. Operators).

Finally, there are the Potentials. Some are Free Minds, others are still entombed in a power plant somewhere. Both possess some kind of Gift for manipulating or experiencing the Matrix in an unusual way. Their talents make them valued shock troops and spies, though their eccentricities also make them unpredictable.
