The Surface - Zion - Hovercrafts
Nameless RPG

As a general rule, humans stay underground. Not only is there little to see or do on the actual planetary surface, but the chances of capture are greatly increased there. Having said that, there are two types of locations the Resistance does take an interest in: Fields and Power Plants.

The Fields

Vast plantations of bio-mechanical "trees" grow crop after crop of human children for insertion into the machines' power plants. Harvesters tend the fields, pluck those ready to receive their implants, and dispose of any "ruined crops." The fields are tightly patrolled, but easy enough to infiltrate on foot. Despite their agrarian function, Harvesters are well armed.

Power Plants

Gargantuan cylinders of pods containing hundreds of thousands of human "batteries" extend deep into the Earth beneath most fields. These power plants are the final resting places for the vast majority of human beings in existence. "Janitor" robots float among the pods tending to miscellaneous system failures and maintenance requirements. They also monitor the cylinders for intruders, bringing in Sentinels if they cannot handle the problem on their own.

When a human is disconnected from the Matrix, the machines eject them into the "recycling" system; this is standard procedure for corpses. The subject slides down to the base of their pod pillar, where they are released into a vast pool of sewage. Eventually, this pool empties out into a processing center where the remains of the dead and dying are liquefied and fed to the living. It is, admittedly, a very efficient design. The machines get to turn all that waste material into energy via human metabolism and co-opt computing time from all those active, dreaming brains.
