Results for the 2005 Minneapolis DFL 11^th Ward Convention

The Convention co-chairs were Alex Eaton and Judy Melanson.

Total of 135 delegates in attendance.

The Convention endorsed Scott Benson for City Council on a unanimous vote.

Our agenda was amended to include election of representatives to an Ad-Hoc Resolutions Committee. Apparently this is something other wards have done, and if such a committee is formed the 11th Ward did not want to be left out.

Under Other Business, we heard from a young woman who spoke very eloquently about the problems posed to observant Jews by Saturday conventions. She moved that the DFL consider future convention scheduling in light of the needs of observant Jews, so that they may participate fully; the motion was seconded and passed unanimously.

Martin Conroy and Leah Colvin-Roy were elected as Ward 11 coordinators;
David McCarthy and Teresa Dyar were elected as alternate Ward 11 coordinators.

The convention elected the following persons to the City pre-Convention committees:

• Arrangements: Dave Lund and Patricia Pasqual
• Credentials:Les Phillips and Yvette Davis
• Rules: Dave Fisher and Stephanie Lunning
• Nominations: Jackson Millikan and Yvette Davis
• Ad-Hoc Resolutions: Paul Rozycki and Teresa Dyar

The convention elected the following persons to the City Party Commissions:

• Constitution: Delegate: Neil Doughty; Alternate: Kerry Hansen.
• Platform: Delegate: Joe Kayser; Alternate: Kim Churchill.
