Results for the 2005 Minneapolis DFL 9th Ward Convention

The results from the Mpls DFL 9th Ward City Council Convention, held on Saturday April 30th, 2005 at South High School were as follows:
The Ward 9 DFL Convention called to order at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 30 at
South High School by Rick Stafford.

About 10 candidates spoke seeking city DFL endorsement.

Joyce Mason reported that 82 delegates had registered as of 10 a.m.  The
rules and agenda were adopted without discussion.

Mary Whitney, Affirmative Action Officer for the 5th C.D., read the
affirmative action statement.

Rick Stafford was elected permanent convention chair.  Alternates were upgraded.

The chair asked for nominations for DFL endorsement for the City Council in
the Ninth Ward.  Jana Metje, 9-4, nominated Gary Schiff.  The chair asked for
further nominations three times.  Metje then moved to close nominations and
move to suspend the rules for the purpose of endorsing Schiff by unanimous
vote.  Motion was adopted and Schiff declare endorsed.

Council Member Schiff addressed the convention.

About 15 candidates spoke seeking city DFL endorsement.

Election of delegates to city pre-convention committees:

                         Patricia Jurewicz (9-5)
                         Dave Bicking (9-6)
                         Barb King (9-5)

No one was nominated or elected for Ward Coordinators.
