Songs for Sarah
These are a few hawking snip-its I created while working for my good friend Sarah at her Origami booth
at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival.
- Yearning, For A Paper Crane
Sung to the tune of "Leaving, On A Jet Plane" by John Denver
Kiss me and fold for me,
Tell me that you'll always be
The Or-i-gam-i lady,
For all to see!
Because I'm yearning, for a paper crane.
Don't know when there'll be Frogs again.
Oh babe, another one sold...
- The Paper Mermaid
Sung to the tune of "Part of Your World" from Disney musical "The Little
Mermaid".
I want to be where the papers are.
I want to see, want to see them folded.
Being sold on the boulevard,
In a big shopping spree!
- Fold To You
Sung to the tune of "Close To You" by Burt Bacharach & Hal David.
Why do birds suddenly appear every time you fold here?
Could it be, they long to be, sold by you?
On the day that you were torn,
The ancients got together
And decided to mend a dream come true.
So they wove fibers in your hair,
And taught you geometry with folds so true.
That is why, all the mills in town (mills in town),
Paper you (paper you) all around!
Just like me, they long to be folded too!
- Happy Origami
Sung to the tune of Minnesota Renaissance Festival version of "Happy Birthday",
which has a striking resemblance to an old Russian river boat towing dirge.
Or-i-gam-ee (uh!)
Or-i-gam-ee (uh!)
Fold a Line, Make a Crease.
In a Flash, Its a Beast!
Its Or-i-gam-ee (uh!)
Or-i-gam-ee (uh!)
I like paper, Yes I Do!
Bent or Curled of Folded too!
Its Or-i-gam-ee (uh!)
Or-i-gam-ee (uh!)
Miscelaneous
- I Heard Someone Dying
Thinking of Freddie Krugger from the "Friday The 13th" movie series, this is sung to
the tune of "I heard someone crying" from musical "The Secret Garden".
I heard someone dying, but who though could it be?
Maybe it was Freddie, coming after me.
Maybe he's not lost nor gone so far away as I've been told.
I heard someone dying, maybe it was me...
