The Rottie
My apologies to Mr. Poe...
Once upon a winter day snowy, when all was hushed and flakes blowing.
February 2000
Over many a mug of cocoa curious, marshmallows gone and forgotten more,
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a lapping,
As of something gently yapping, scrapping at the kitchen door.
'Tis some Rotweiller,' I sputtered, 'nudging at my kitchen door -
Only tennis balls, throw them more...'
Rainbows & Roses
I wrote while working, sitting in a car, in the rain, by myself, guarding a building.
Under a double fistful,
Circa Late 1980's
of rainbow painted skies,
I thought of you.
Partially semi-circled,
And shining in all your glory,
Through a bold new lane of skies
Hung about like April lennin to dry.
No old paintings on walls.
It's real, like the thorn of a rose.
Pricking your memory with its
Sweet smelling, fresh embrasing color.
And I add a drop to the multitude,
For the multitued of you.
A drop here and a drop there.
Sometimes hitting your blossom or bud,
Other times the ground,
Seeping and soaking in,
To reach you at your roots.
