(Minor)
Coins of Dent (also known as "Harveys") are coins used as focii in Entropomantic Random Magick. Their most common use is that of a dowsing implement (with a heads = "hot" and tails = "cold") or a divinatory tool (heads = "yes" and tails = "no"). As Harvey are used, they become more magickal.
To use a coin as a Harvey, a question must be posed in the adept's mind while holding the coin. Often, but not always (see below) the coin is elected randomly from available change. The duke then flips the coin, and spends a minor charge while the Harvey is in the air. Provided the adept's Magick roll succeeded, the coin will act as a conduit for the mojo released, and signal the result. The coin will work as a dowsing tool for 10 minutes before requiring a new charge to be expended; unfortunately, when used for purely oracular questions, a charge must be expended for each question.
Over time, Harveys become attuned to magick. Using an "attuned" Harvey, the duration of effective dowsing may be increased, up to twice the normal duration or even getting 2 questions answered for the price of one. Attuned Harveys are very bright and shiny.
However, soon after the Harvey becomes "attuned," the residue of magick on and in the coin begins to interfere with the dowsing/divinatory magick within a handful of uses. Errors start to crop up: the coin begins interpreting the question ironically, or metaphorically, or literally. Sometimes it just reverses polarity, saying "yes" when it should say "no." Often, it just becomes attuned to the user's thoughts, and gives him the answer he wants. GMs should have fun with these "twisted" Harveys. Once a Harvey gets twisted, its lifespan as an oracular tool is rapidly coming to a close...but is an excellent candidate for a Lucky Charm, a Travel Bond, or other artifact. Twisted Harveys are just as bright and shiny as an attunted Harvey, but the heads on them will all seem to have a wry smile, or wink, or the legend will be amusingly misspelled, or the date will be wrong, etc.
Interestingly, Plutomancers covet Harveys, especially twisted ones: the mojo residue on them makes them seem to be more "valuable" (in a magickal sense) than their face value. Plutomancers aren't telling how much more valuable, but prices of up to $5 have been offered for JFK fifty-cent piece twisted Harveys. Attuned Harveys are also sought, but at lesser prices. Rumor has it that Plutomancers can use these items as well-- they are spendable money, after all.
