Setting Up Internet Mail For Win95 or Win98
Before you begin
You should read through these instructions thoroughly and print out a
copy before you continue.
This installation procedure assumes that you have Internet Mail for email at SCC.net.
Always try reading through the programs instructions and documentation before beginning setup or
calling for technical support. It is always best to try and learn on your own.
- Open Internet Explorer
- Click on the Mail icon in the Toolbar and select Read Mail or Click on the Go menu and select
Mail
- Once Internet Mail is open, Click on the Mail menu and select
Options
- Click on the Server tab and enter the following information

- Click the Advanced Settings button and enter your email address in the Reply-to field (ex:
jsmith@scc.net).

- Click the Connection tab and select the type of connection you use for your internet access. If you use a
modem, select I use a modem to access my email. If you use a modem, select the Dialup Networking connection
that you use for connecting to Sound Internet.

- Click Apply then OK
Sending and Checking Email
- To Send: From the Toolbar, select Compose Message
- To Check mail: From the Toolbar, select Send and Receive
Troubleshooting Problems
- Is my mail account name all lower case?
- Do I have a message in your Outbox addressed to a bogus email address? If so, get rid of it and
you will be able to send mail again.
- Is my password typed correctly?
- Have I double-checked my server name and configuration for typos?
- Did I pay my internet service provider?
