DNS Problems with Windows95
If you find that you are able to connect to Sound Internet but once
connected you are unable to access any/most services (ie. WWW, eMail,
IRC) you may have your Domain Name Service (DNS) settings configured
incorrectly.
To check/change your Win95 DNS configuration, do the following:
- With the right hand mouse button, click once on Network
Neighborhood and from the pop up menu, scroll down and select
Properties.
- From Properties select TCP/IP.
- Now, click on the DNS Configuration button that appears on the
top of the window.
- From here, you will want to remove the 204.220.33.1 from
the second box it appears in- (if it is even there- some users will not
need to make the change). Now, the ADD box, type 199.199.195.5 and
click add (you only need to do this if it is not listed under
where the 204.220.33.1 number was.)
- Click OK to exit out of all the open windows and restart
your machine.
