Manually Configuring Windows95 and Windows98 for Dial Up Networking at Sound Internet Without SCC Internet CD

This page will step you through manually setting up Win95/98 for Internet access to SCC.

To begin, double-click on the "My Computer" icon, and Dialup networking.
If you're unable to locate dial-up networking, it may still need to be installed
Next, Double-click the "Make New Connection" icon.

Type a name for this connection, "Sound Internet"

Type the phone number for this connection, "556-6556" (area code 651) for Minneapolis/St. Paul Metro area users, or "257-2485" (area code 651) for Taylors Falls, Almelund, Osceola, WI and Non-metro Lindstrom/Chisago City residents.

Click the Finish Button

Now, right click the "Sound Internet" icon that you just created inside the "Dialup Networking" folder, and select properties from the pop-up menu

Click the "Server Type" button or tab from your screen.

Remove the check-mark from the "Log into Network" item.
In the allowed network protocols area, remove the frist two, leaving only TCP/IP checked.
Now, click the TCP/IP settings button.

Click "Specify name server addresses," and enter the Primary DNS number 199.199.195.5

Continue here if you would like Internet Explorer to open the internet connection when opened.

Click your start button, and select settings and control panel.
Locate and double click the "Internet" icon.
Click the "Connection" tab.

You are looking to setup the system to connect as needed. Several versions of Internet Explorer exist today. Your screen may vary, but the idea is the same.
