Windows 3.1 CD Installation

You should read through these instructions thoroughly and print out a copy before you continue.
It is always a good idea to make a backup of any important files on your system before installing software or making changes to your system.
Before running the installation program make sure to exit out of all programs. The computer will reboot after installation takes place. If you had previous on-line or Internet service you may be prompted about existing WINSOCK.DLL files. You must choose Complete install in order to install the Sound Internet software.

From Program Manager choose File, then Run.
In the Command Line box type :\SETUP, Click OK (Where "Drive" is the letter of your CD-Rom Drive, i.e. D:\SETUP) In the unlikely event that setup does not run repeat step one then type in the Command Line Box :\WIN31\ENG\SETUP.EXE
You will be prompted with a license screen, you will have to accept it to continue.
Follow the on-screen instructions to install your Internet software. Make sure to choose Complete installation for proper setup.
Once the software has installed, the installation will attempt to detect your modem. When the Install New Modem box appears make sure the modem is on and hooked up. Click the Next button when ready.
The modem check should take about 2 minutes. When finished, Setup will review what it found. If the information is correct choose next, then finish. Otherwise follow the on-screen instructions to manually install your modem.
You will be prompted to restart your computer. You must restart before proceeding.

In order to proceed you must have an existing Internet Account set up with Sound Internet. If you do not have one call us at (612) 874-6823 to get set up.
Once windows has restarted you will see a new Program Manager group titled Microsoft Internet Explorer. Double click on the Get on the Internet Icon.
Click on Let’s Go to continue.
Internet Start-Up will now create an icon to use to connect to Sound Internet. Click OK .
Click on the SCC Net Icon to continue.
A connect to Box will appear. You need to type in your user name (or Login name) and password. If you are in an office and have to dial 9 follow the instruction in this sub-section.
- Click on Dial-Properties
- In the box labeled "To access an outside line, first dial" ,type in the appropriate number (i.e. 9)
- Click OK
Click connect when the information has been entered.

To get on-line again simply double click on the SCC Net icon in the Microsoft Internet Explorer group.

A bonus software directory is included on the CD under \BONUSSW. File Manager can be used to view this area on the CD. The directory contains a variety of Internet related software. We have included installation instructions for WS_FTP (File Transfer Protocol) and mIRC (Chat.)
Installing mIRC
- From Program Manager choose File, then Run.
- In the Command Line box type D:\BONNUSSW\MIRC\mirc502s.exe, Click OK
- Follow the on-screen prompts
Installing WS_FTP
- From Program Manager choose File, then Run.
- In the Command Line box type D:\BONNUSSW\WS_FTP\INSTALL.EXE, Click OK Follow the on-screen prompts
