| Currently the fastest growing and most popular part of the Internet experience is the World Wide Web. Here are instructions for you on how to put your own WWW page on our server for the world to see. To do this you must first create a page on your own system. For instructions on how to do this, check your local library or Netscape's Home Page. Please note that all commands listed below are CASE SENSITIVE! This means that you must type commands with the same capitalization as it has displayed. 'WWW' is not the same thing as 'www'. Have Questions? Email staff@scc.net |
NOTE: If you are uploading to your own
domain use
www.yourdomain.com instead of scc.net as shown below.

If you do not have a directory called WWW all caps, then click the MkDir button and make one. This is the directory where all your web documents and images need to be stored.
Next, locate the html and images files that you want to upload on your local PC (the left-hand window displays files on your local hard-drive - the right hand window displays files on the remote web server at SCC).

Select the files you want to upload from your hard drive by clicking them once, then upload them into your web directory by clicking the '--->' arrow.
If you are having trouble understanding what the WS_FTP window separations are, try to break it up into four sections. We'll call them: Left Top and Left Bottom covers the left half of the window. Right Top and Right Bottom covers the right half of the window.
Left Top displays the drives on your local PC. a=floppy, c=hard disk, d=cd rom, etc. If your web files are on your c drive, open the c drive by clicking on it. Notice that the a and d drives have disappeared and has been replaced bu the directories from your c drive. Locate the directory on your c drive where your web files are stored and open it by clicking on it. Now you'll notice that Left Bottom has files in it. Left Bottom displays the files inside the directory on your local hard drive that you choose in the Left Top window.
Right Top displays the remote directory that you are connected to (ie WWW). To switch into another directory, just click on its name. Right Bottom displays all of the files, images, etc. stored inside the remote directory. Have questions, email staff@scc.net
