Intermitent modem disconnections and low connect speeds can be caused by several different problems. Use the steps outlined below to check out your problem.

Physical Connection

  • Many times connection problems are caused by a bad phone wiring:
    • Check to make sure the phone cable is plugged into the correct rececpticle.
    • Plug a telephone into the cable you are using. Be alert of any static that may be present on the phone line.
    • Even if the line may seem clear, you should replace the cable with one that is known to be good/new.
  • Check out your software configuration:
  • Is your modem up to date?
