Using Fetch Fetch® is an ftp program used to transfer files across computer networks. Fetch® and ftp used to be the main source of downloading software before the WWW became popular. Now, most of the things you use ftp programs for can be used with any web browser. You will need to use Fetch® to upload you web page. Here is a brief intro on how you can upload your web page using this program.

· Open up the Fetch® application and type in your user specific information:

  • Use your login name (i.e. joeschmo) and your password to access your
  • home directory.
  • Click OK.
  • If you have a directory inside of you home called WWW then double click on it to get into your web directory. If you do not:
  • From the Directory menu, select Create New Directory
  • Name it WWW (all caps).
  • From within your web directory, select Put File, then find the HTML files on your hard drive that you want to upload into web pages, and hit enter.
  • If you are uploading gif or jpg images, after you select Put File, you will need to upload them as Raw Data in order for them to be seen on your web page.
This new version of Fetch® also allows you to drag and drop files from your hard drive into your directories and vice/versa.

    NOTE

The first page you want to show up as: http://www.scc.net/~login, you'll want to title that page index.html. You can create as many subdirectories as needed.
