Manually Configuring Mac OS X for DSL with Sound Internet.
The following pages will step you through manually setting up Mac OS X for Internet access to SCC with no software needed. This is all that is needed to establish an internet connection with your router.

Step One:

  • To begin, click and hold the "Menu", then "System Preferences." Or click on the System Preferences Icon in the dock.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


Step Two:

  • Then click on the "Network" icon.

 


Step Three:

If you have programmed your Cisco with OPTION #1 - FOR CUSTOMERS WISHING TO CONNECT MORE THAN ONE COMPUTER (AND HAVE NOT REQUESTED BUSINESS SERVICE WITH A SPECIAL NETWORK) - Sound Internets Routed1483R-NAT Cisco Configuration

Skip to Step 4 if you have programmed your Cisco with OPTION #2 - FOR CUSTOMERS WITH ONLY ONE COMPUTER OR BUSINESS SERVICE WITH A SPECIAL ROUTED NETWORK - Sound Internets Routed1483R-DirectIP Cisco 678 Configuration

  • Next to "Show:" select "Built-in Ethernet".
  • Then Click on the "TCP/IP" tab.
  • Next to "Configure:" select "Using DHCP"

  • Click the Apply Now button when finished and close the window.

Step Four:

If you have programmed your Cisco with OPTION #2 - FOR CUSTOMERS WITH ONLY ONE COMPUTER OR BUSINESS SERVICE WITH A SPECIAL ROUTED NETWORK - Sound Internets Routed1483R-DirectIP Cisco 678 Configuration

  • Next to "Show:" select "Built-in Ethernet".
  • Then Click on the "TCP/IP" tab.
  • Next to "Configure:" select "Manually"
  • Enter your Static IP address found on your SOUND INTERNET DSL INTERNET CONFIGURATION INFORMATION worksheet next to "IP Address:"
  • Then enter your subnet mask next to "Subnet Mask:"
  • The "Router:" address is your Gateway:
  • Domain Name Servers: 199.199.195.5

  • Click the Apply Now button when finished and close the window.


Step Five:

  • Next, click on the "Internet" control panel.

 


Step Six:

  • Next, click on the "Email" tab.
  • First choose which email program or "Default Email Reader:" you would like to use.
  • Enter your e-mail address in the first box, which is your username followed by @scc.net Example: username@scc.net
  • Then enter the Incoming Mail Server: pop3.scc.net
  • "Account type:" should be set to "POP"
  • Your username should be entered all lowercase next to "User Account ID:".
  • If you do not want to have to enter your password every time you check your mail you can enter your password in the "Password:" box.
  • The "Outgoing Mail Server:" should be set to "smtp.scc.net".

 


Step Seven:

  • Next, click on the "Web" tab.
  • You can change the default web browser if you want.
  • Enter your preferred home page and search page.
  • You can change where you want files to automatically download by clicking "Select".

 


Step Eight:

  • Next, click on the "News" tab.
  • Set the news server to "news.scc.net".
  • Connect as "Guest".
