OS 8 Instructions for Manually Configuring PPP without SCC Startup CD

MacOS 8 Instructions:

If the Sound Internet Start-Up Kit is installed on an OS 8 Machine manual changes will have to be made before the computer will connect correctly to SCC. Follow the instructions below to configure the software:

From the "Apple" menu pull down menu choose Control Panel.
Open TCP/IP.
In the "Connect Via:" box choose PPP
Make sure the "Configure:" box is set to "Using PPP server"
Name Server Addr: 199.199.195.5
Search Domain: SCC.NET
Close the TCP/IP control panel, make sure to click Save when prompted.
From the "Apple" menu pull down menu choose Control Panel.
Open PPP.
Enter your login name in the "name:" box (i.e. if your username is jdoe enter that.)
Enter your password in the "password:" box. Remember your password is case sensitive.
Click the "Save Password" check box.
Enter 651 556-6556 in the "Number" box. (If you are calling from an office where you must dial 9 for an outside line type 9,651 556-6556 in the box.)
