Detailed below is step-by-step instructions on how to change your dial-up phone number in MacOS. This change is necessary for all customers whose area codes have changed to (763) or (952).
Sound Internet's Twin Cities numbers are (612) so if your number changed to (763) or (952) you will need to follow these intructions prior to Jan. 14, 2001. If you have any questions or comments, send email to staff@scc.net.

How to change the dialup number for MacOS - Remote Access, ConfigPPP and MacPPP, FreePPP, and O/T PPP


For Remote Access Users

  • Open the Remote Access Control Panel
  • Change the Telephone Number to 651-556-6556, click OK.


    For ConfigPPP or MacPPP Users

  • Locate either the ConfigPPP or PPP control panel and double click it.
  • Click on the Config or Options tab (varies between panels).

  • Change the Telephone Number to 651-556-6556, click OK.


    For FreePPP Users

  • Locate the telephone icon on the upper right-hand side of your Macintosh desktop.
  • Click the icon to display the pop-down menu and select FreePPP Setup.

  • Click on the Accounts tab.

  • Select the Sound Internet or SCC.Net option and click the Edit tab.

  • Change the Telephone Number to 651-556-6556, click OK.


    For Open Transport PPP Users

  • Double-click the PPP Control Panel.
  • Change the Telephone Number to 651-556-6556, click OK.
