| Here are instructions for configuring Windows 95/98 for your DSL. |
How to configure Windows 95/98
for DSL
- Double-click on "My Computer"
- Double-click on "Control Panel"
- Double-click on "Network"
- Select "TCP/IP"
- Click on the "Properties" button
- Click the "IP Address" tab
- Click the "Specify IP Address" button
- In the available blank, enter an IP address assigned to you by your LAN
administrator (Sound Internet)
- Each computer requires a unique IP address.
- Click the "Gateway" tab
- In the available blank, type in the gateway address provided to you by your LAN
administrator (Sound Internet) and click
"Add"
- Click the "DNS Configuration" tab
- Select "Enable DNS"
- Host: Use your Sound Internet username, or else your computer name (i.e.
WS7)
- Domain: scc.net
- DNS Server Search Order: 199.199.195.5 and then click "Add"
- Click "OK" button
- Click "OK" button again
- You will then be informed that your computer needs to restart in order to change
the settings. At that prompt, click "Yes"
- After restarting the computer, Select plan users go to the Commander in
the lower right taskbar, and double-click on
it. If you have the Deluxe plan, open your web browser/email program as
you should now be connected
- The "Commander" looks like a little computer.
- After you double-click, then click the "Connect" button (this is for

- If you have not done so already, right-click on the "Internet Explorer" icon on
the desktop.
- Select "Properties" and click the TAB "Connection"
- Click the "Setup" button, and this will launch the "Internet Connection Wizard"
- Follow the instructions in the wizard and select LAN (Local Area Network) for
your connection type when prompted
- For e-mail setup and details, click the "Support" link at the bottom left of
this web page, and then choose your operating
system (i.e. Windows, Linux, Macintosh)
- Sound Internet uses the same e-mail servers for DSL as it does for dialup
