Detailed below is step-by-step instructions on how to change your dial-up networking phone number in Windows 95/98. This change is necessary for all customers whose area codes have changed to (763) or (952).
Sound Internet's Twin Cities numbers are (612) so if your number changed to (763) or (952) you will need to follow these intructions prior to Jan. 14, 2001. If you don't know if your number changed, here is a list of prefixes that changed. Questions or comments? Send Email to staff@scc.net.

How to change the dialup number
in Windows 95/98


  • Double click on the "My Computer" icon on your desktop.

  • Double click on "Dial-Up Networking".

  • Locate your Sound Intenet connection icon.

  • Click with the Right Mouse button on the "Sound Internet" or "SCC.Net" icon, and select "Properties".

  • Change the "Telephone Number" to 651 556-6556.

  • Un-check "Use Country Code and Area Code" (the Area Code Text Field should become grey.)

  • Click "OK" to save changes. You DO NOT need to reboot your computer.
